The best way to deal with a challenger (Trickster-Nova) is by spending your coins/platinum on the equipment of your new player level before you fight him/her.

When you're done, play as many tournaments and challenges until you level up (If you're having trouble, upgrade all of your equipment by one intermediate level and continue gaining xp to level up. The best way to avoid having difficult challengers (Trickster, etc.), is to fight a bodyguard (if you're capable) then grind in survival mode until you have enough coins/credits to buy the equipment for the next level.
